"Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally. " - David Frost

Wow I am in need of an update! It’s been awhile since I’ve even opened up this site. Oops! Summer, as usual, has flown by but I’m excited to say I’ve been keeping busy with a couple new projects.
The job search is still slow. Had a few promising job interviews earlier this summer, which unfortunately didn’t turn into anything. Thanks again to Twitter though, I got another internship. Since mid-June I’ve been working with CRAVE Chicago. It’s everything I enjoy doing, a lot of social media, marketing, researching prospects, planning and going to events (now if I can only find someone to pay me!) and to top it all off I’m meeting extraordinary women business owners. My goal is to network my way into a job or maybe even find the motivation to strike out on my own. I already have a business plan in place thanks to my MBA days. Every job rejection always makes me wonder why I’m trying so hard to work for someone else when I’ve met so many women who work for themselves and love what they do. Makes me wonder if it’s something I should really look into.
I also found myself being thrown into the insurance/financial field. I never even thought about or really had any interest in this area. I took a 20-hour class over two days back in June and took my licensing test a few days ago and surprisingly passed! I have never been a good standardized test taker and after an overload of information, it took me a few weeks to get back into the habit of studying. After taking and failing the practice exam a few times, I was completely panicked on test day. I either worry way too much, great at guessing, or really do know my stuff because after the two-hour test, I left with a piece of paper that said I passed! This wasn’t my original plan in life, but apparently this is something I know well enough and I’ve always had a natural knack for giving advice, so who knows I may have discovered a new goal.
When have you had to aim for something new?
