"You don't just luck into things as much as you would like to think you do. You build step by step, whether it is friendships or opportunities." - Barbara Bush

Last Tuesday was the end of a four and half month internship with Rockit Ranch Productions and Billy Dec. I can check that off my dream job bucket list! I don't know why after two years of searching for a job this opportunity finally opened up. You could say it was luck, but it was so much more than that!
Rewind back to October of last year. I finally got on the whole social media bandwagon and started following companies I have wanted to work at on Twitter. Rockit Ranch Productions happened to be a company I have wanted to work at for a very long time, and have sent my resume a few times over the years. Thanks to the power of social media I found out that they were looking for interns and holding an intern search event, so sent in my resume once again and wait for the event.
In the meantime, also thanks to Twitter, I find out that that Cheeky Chicago is having a party at Rockit Bar & Grill, which is owned by Rockit Ranch Productions. I decide to go and check it out with a friend and happen to run into Billy Dec! I introduce myself and tell him I am applying to be an intern and to remember me.
A few weeks later is the intern search event and the days leading up to it, I attach a picture I took with Billy, so hopefully he remembers me! Let me tell you, it totally worked! There were about 40 other intern hopefuls there and when I approached Billy he knew who I was! And of all those people I was one of the three chosen to work directly with Billy Dec!
It's been a great honor and adventure working for Rockit Ranch Productions and especially Billy Dec, Katie Rose, and Amy. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and learned so much about marketing, social media, event planning, and even a little bit of video editing than I could imagine. To my girls, Team LAF, Feeny and Amanda, it's been a great ride! I know we'll be great friends for years to come!
So the big question is, what's next? I can't say for sure. I'm back to applying for jobs and sending out my resume. The only thing I can do is build on this experience and the connections I made during this time and hope something just as great comes along!
What's your next step?
